Previously featured item : Steam Engine Eagle
Railroad steam engines in the late 19th century were often decorated with ornaments. This eagle is made of cast iron, approximately 1870 and is similar to one pictured in AMERICAN FOLK SCULPTURE by Robert Bishop, p. 76. It was probably attached above the number plate. This eagle has the letter "N" enclosed within a shield like design which may be a symbol of the railroad. Vew 'Steam Engine Eagle' details.
