Vintage Glass Paperweights
Rectangular in shape, this paperweight depicts two newspaper cartoons from the 1930’s from the Colombus, OH Dispatch and The Star of St. Louis, MO. The first cartoon is called “A Story Without Words”. The second cartoon is titled “Why Not Sit at the Small Table?” This paperweight dates from the 1930’s. The text quoted is “Mutual Good Will” was written by R.J. Caldwell and appeared in The Survey.
The Survey Graphic is a monthly published in New York. At one time the name changed to The Survey and then changed back to The Survey Graphic and has been publishing since 1909 as a magazine of social interpretation.
Capital and labor articles and cartoons were popular. Herblock’s cartoons appeared in NEA Services and Fitzpatrick’s cartoons appeared in the St. Louis Star.
